TESTING
PLACEMENT TESTS
New students are provided with an English Language Arts, Math and Arabic Language Arts (Grades 3 and higher) placement test prior to enrollment. Read more about this topic under Admissions sections.
LANGUAGE ARTS TESTING
A Language Arts testing will be administered in Kindergarten through 3rd grades in mid-September, mid-January, and at the end of the school year. These tests show a more progressive development pattern in student’s learning and provides the teacher with an outlook of student’s needs early in the school year.
NY STATE EXAMS
In an effort to ensure proper graduation requirements of seniors, the State Dept has developed exams to monitor growth of students in 3rd – 8th grades in ELA & Math.. Universal School will administer these exams , along with the Science exams for 4th & 8th grades. Social Studies state exams will be given in the 5th & 8th grade.
GRADING SYSTEM
Students in grades Pre-K through 3rd will be evaluated in light of their individual performance levels:

S – SatisfactoryP – ProgressingN – Needs ImprovementU - Unsatisfactory
Effort – Child’s willingness to do his/her best and participates in classroom experience and activities.
3 – Above average
2 - Average
1 – Below average
4th – 8th grades will be assessed by:
3.7 - 4.0 = Above Average High Honor Roll
3.3 – 3.6 = Average Honor Roll
2.8 – 3.2 = Merit Roll
2.0 – 2.4 Academic Intervention Needed
< 1.9 = Fail
